02: Releasing What is Not Yours

When you were undone, you clung to what you believed you could control to escape the discomfort of what you could not control. This is natural. But tight-fisted control has not served you well. So now, as you choose to live from the solid place, you are releasing what you once held tightly: pain, anxiety, worries, disappointment, defenses, obligations, blame, and your concern about the opinions of others. This choice to trust God requires tolerating a measure of discomfort. With a relaxed, secure, openhanded posture, you are choosing to relinquish that which is not yours to hold. When you choose to accept what you cannot change, you opt to trust God. Every time you release the wish that reality would be other than it is, you experience freedom.
